Membership Committee: The mission of the Membership Committee is to promote, increase, and retain SMI membership. The Membership Committee increases the membership by visiting exhibits, studios, galleries, and other sources to recruit and suggest potential members. Membership committee members welcome new members and discuss issues with outgoing members.
Program Committee: The Program Committee plans educational activities including, but not limited to lectures, seminars, symposiums, and art demonstrations. The Program Committee is also responsible for planning SMI social activities including the annual Holiday Party and the annual Meeting. Program committee members may also partner with other arts organizations to achieve their goals.
Communications Committee: The Communications Committee is responsible for publicizing SMI exhibitions, programs and events by written, spoken, and visual media, such as newspaper and magazine press releases, radio and television program announcements, postcards, catalogs, and all social media. The Communications Committee ensures that SMI is always represented in a consistent manner.
Fundraising and Grants Committee: The Fundraising and Grants Committee is responsible for researching and writing grants for SMI. They also plan and implement fundraising events.
Exhibitions Committee: The Exhibitions Committee investigates all possibilities for exhibition spaces including but not limited to museums, art centers, colleges, corporate galleries, and alternative spaces. Members of the Exhibitions Committee work with curators, evaluate exhibit proposals, and hang and take down exhibits.
Receptions Committee: The Receptions Committee is responsible for SMI exhibit and event reception arrangements including solicitation and/or purchasing of food and goods, setting up, and cleaning up after. The Receptions Committee works closely with the Program Committee.
